When layers and CPU power isn't a hindrance - we know who will have the advantage then - the ones doing the best sample libraries. will be in every other module / every other VST in the future. So since drum modules will become computers and triggers will be a dime a dozen, it's just going to become battle of the sample libraries, since every special tweak-able feature, every special sample modelling DSP, that modules like the TD-50 have now. Not a partnership any more, just their own module, this algorithm proves it to me. Lets be clear, there are many years, perhaps decades left for Roland Vdrums, but without a doubt, this trend exists, and I see nothing in the future preventing Toontrack, like Steven Slate, making their own drum module and blowing the socks off Roland, Yamaha, all the rest. There's a new thread about Roland needing to use real samples which is really making me question Roland's longevity in all this. but I'm not just thinking of this simple feature, it's the trend of continuing encroachment on Roland technology with VST samples that interests me. This is just incredible, extraordinary development on Toontracks part.
